SJSU signs Brennan to an extension

San José State University and its football head coach Brent Brennan agreed to a three-year contract extension for Brennan to coach SJSU through the 2024 season. Marie Tuite, the SJSU Director of Athletics, made the announcement.

“This extension comes at an important time as we continue to build a championship football program. Coach Brennan has done an exemplary job in moving the needle competitively, achieving numerous academic performances, and leading a praiseworthy ‘Beyond Football’ program,” said Tuite.

Brennan concluded his third season as the Spartans head coach in 2019, after battling through some bad years in his first two season where they went 2-11 in 2017 and 1-11 in 2018, the Spartans went 5-7 in 2019 including wins on the road at Arkansas in September and a home win against arch-rival Fresno State to finish the season. Brennan’s career record with SJSU is now 8-29.
