The UConn Huskies (6-5) upset the No. 19 Liberty Flames (8-2), 36-33, at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut this afternoon! The Huskies are bowl eligible for the first time since 2015!
This win was UConn’s fourth ever win over an AP Top 25 opponent in program history and they have more wins this year than they had in 2018-2021 combined!
What Jim Mora has done with UConn this year is insane, but more importantly he’s proven that it doesn’t take some impossibly painful 4-year plan or X’s and O’s wizardry, to make UConn competitive.
Unbelievable job by Mora in year one, taking over the absolute disaster that Randy Edsall left in his second stint with the Huskies.
Mora deserved this Gatorade bath.
Freshman Zion Turner completed 15-of-21 passes for 103 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Senior running back Robert Burns ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushing attempts, while freshman Victor Rosa ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns on 10 attempts.
I’m most happy for my uncle and all of the UConn alumni who have had to deal with some tough years over the last decade. What a day to be alive.
The Huskies will travel to West Point, New York to play the Army Black Knights (3-5) next Saturday, November 19th. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) and will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network (CBSSN).
