The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team earned an 85-69 win over Azurea Club today in Nice, France to finish 4-0 in their 10-day, four-game foreign tour of France.
Head Coach Greg Gard played different lineups, like he has all trip, throughout the game. Starting for UW in this game was Chucky Hepburn, Jordan Davis, Isaac Lindsey, Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl.
The next lineup to see action was Kamari McGee, Max Klesmit, Connor Essegian, Markus Ilver and Chris Hodges.
Davis and Essegian both stood out right away. They both finished with a team-high 14 points and Essegian had a stretch in the first quarter where he had seven straight points, with two of those baskets coming after he grabbed offensive rebounds.
UW Point Totals:
Davis – 14
Essegian – 14
Crowl – 11
Gilmore – 11
Klesmit – 10
Hepburn – 7
Ilver – 7
Wahl – 4
Lindsey – 3
McGee – 2
I think this was a much needed trip for the program that relies on development. It was also great for more practice time and game experience for the young guys and guys that didn’t get much action during the 2021-22 season.
You do have to be careful to read too much into a four-game exhibition tour. However, I sense that the Badgers will get scoring from many places this season. That said, late in a tight game expect to see the ball in Hepburn’s hands often. He can create or score.
