Unfortunately, a new Hockey King was crowned. The Tampa Bay Lightning fell short of a three-peat tonight, falling to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, 2-1, to lose the series.
This is not a fun feeling.
After the Game 5 win, I really felt like the Lightning would force a Game 7 on Tuesday night in Colorado. Just wasn’t meant to be.
I just want to say thank you for everything this year, Tampa Bay Lightning.
The loss tonight may have ended the hopes for a three-peat, but what this team accomplished was part of history. They’re champs forever.
If this was indeed Ondrej Palat’s final game in a Tampa Bay Lightning uniform, thanks for everything, Pally. Tampa will always love you. Having said that, I think he should run it back with the squad.
Like I wrote earlier, this is not a fun feeling and it sucks. But this team went on a hell of a run the last three years, and have made these fans proud time and time again.
Congrats to Colorado, the best team that the Lightning have played the last three years. They earned it.
To everyone else, praying on Tampa’s downfall … this is for you:
