Wisconsin Badgers Men’s and Women’s Basketball To Play at American Family Field in Inaugural Brew City Battle

College Basketball is coming to American Family Field in the inaugural Brew City Battle this Fall.

On November 11th, 2022, there will be a college basketball doubleheader with the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team facing the Stanford Cardinal and the UW women’s team playing the Kansas State Wildcats.

UW posted a picture of what things will look like:

This is going to be the first ever basketball event inside American Family Field (formerly Miller Park) and will also be the first college basketball event in a baseball only park since 2015 when the San Diego Toreros played the San Diego State Aztecs inside Petco Park.

“Playing a game at American Family Field has been a vision for quite some time and I am so excited to see it become a reality,” men’s basketball head coach Greg Gard said. “We are always looking to play in exciting venues and competitions and the chance to be the first ever basketball event at the Brewers stadium is going to be an unforgettable experience for both our athletes and fans.”

Coming off her first season in Madison, women’s basketball head coach Marissa Mosley is excited about the exposure this kind of game will give the UW women’s program, as well as women’s college basketball overall.

“We are absolutely thrilled for our team to be competing in the Brew City Battle,” Mosley said. “This doubleheader with our men’s program is an incredible opportunity for not only our players, but also for our fans to experience Badger basketball in such a unique environment. Being able to play on the home field of the reigning NL Central champions and just down the road from the NBA Champions, sets the stage for a great event. This is an unbelievable platform for girls and women in sports as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX and we can’t wait to see you all there.”

The men’s program has played in some unique venues over the years, especially in the NCAA Tournament. It included Final Fours at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. The men’s program has also played games at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan and the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
