UW-Milwaukee Panthers Baseball Falls To Iowa Hawkeyes

The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (11-14, 2-5 Horizon) did not have a good day at Franklin Field in Franklin, Wisconsin this evening in a 16-2 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes (17-12).

Logan Schulfer (2-1) got the start for UWM today only lasted 1/3 of an inning, allowing six runs (all earned), four walks and three hits.

Nate DeYoung and Nathan Ebersole each picked up UWM’s only two hits on the day, while Tommy Benson and Justin Hausser picked up one RBI each.

The only bright side in tonight’s game was it got a lot of the bench in, whether it was pitchers or position players, to get some game reps and experience in.

There was a little history in tonight’s matchup for the Milwaukee Panthers. Tonight was the 22nd all-time meeting between the Panthers and Hawkeyes, today was the first meeting outside of Iowa City, Iowa.

Tonight was also the first time that UW-Milwaukee has played a power-five program on UWM’s home field. Now that UWM plays their home games at Franklin Field, one of the premier college baseball stadiums in the Midwest, I think you’ll see more power-five programs play a road game at UWM.

Up Next:

The Panthers will travel to Youngstown, Ohio to play a three-game series from April 14-16 against the Youngstown State Penguins (10-23, 3-6 Horizon) at Eastwood Field.

This is a very important series for both teams.

First pitch for Thursday, April 14 is scheduled for 4:00 PM (Central Time).
