The defending world champion Milwaukee Bucks (49-30) take down their I-94 rival, the Chicago Bulls (45-34), by a final of 127-106 from inside the United Center. The win also clinches the Central Division title for the fourth consecutive season for the Milwaukee Bucks!
Milwaukee also sweeps the season series between the two teams.
I’m going to start by saying this: The Chicago Bulls and their fans are morons. Instead of trying to win, they are more concerned about retribution for something that happened months ago. That attitude is why they will continue to be mediocre. And that was a flagrant foul.
That’s twice now the Bulls players went for Grayson Allen’s head. And neither time there was an ejection. Just wild stuff.
Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo being in foul trouble for much of the night, the Bucks just physically dominated the Bulls tonight. Milwaukee is just too big across the board for Chicago. The Bucks had 54 points in the paint.
Brook Lopez finished with a team-high 28 points for Milwaukee. Khris Middleton (19), Giannis Antetokounmpo (18), Bobby Portis (13), Grayson Allen (13), Jrue Holiday (11), and Wesley Matthews (11) all finished in double-figures.
The Bucks bench has struggled for offense throughout the season, ranking 27th in the NBA. With Bobby Portis and Grayson Allen now with the second unit, head coach Mike Budenholzer can mix and match lineups with a variety of scoring options on the floor. The balance feels right.
Milwaukee is 2 1/2 games behind the Miami Heat (52-28) for the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference with three games remaining. The Bucks are also in a three-way tie for the 2-seed with the Boston Celtics (49-30) and Philadelphia 76ers (49-30).
The Milwaukee Bucks (49-30) will welcome the Boston Celtics (49-30) to the Fiserv Forum in a huge game for both teams on Thursday, April 7th. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM (Central Time) and the game will be nationally televised on TNT.
