San José State Spartans Adds Four Teams To Future Football Schedule

The San José State Spartans football program announced last week that they have added Oregon State, Rice, Eastern Michigan, and Howard to their future football non-conference schedules in the 2026, 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031 seasons.

SJSU currently has 10 games against Power-5 opponents in their future schedules and will supposedly be adding more in the upcoming weeks.

Here’s a little info about the four opponents:

Oregon State Beavers (PAC-12)

  • SJSU will play Oregon State on the road on September 8, 2029 and at CEFCU Stadium on September 7, 2030
  • SJSU and Oregon State are already on the schedule for September 2, 2023 at CEFCU Stadium
  • The first meeting between the two programs was in 1979
  • The most recent meeting between the two programs was in 2015
  • SJSU is 2-4 All-Time against the Oregon State Beavers

Rice Owls (Currently in Conference USA but will be in AAC when they meet)

  • SJSU will play Rice on the road on September 14, 2030 and at CEFCU Stadium on September 20, 2031
  • First meeting between these two programs was in 1998
  • The most recent meeting between the two programs was in 2004, a 70-63 victory for SJSU at CEFCU Stadium
  • SJSU is 3-2 All-Time against the Rice Owls

Eastern Michigan Eagles (MAC)

  • SJSU will play Eastern Michigan on the road on September 5, 2026 and at CEFCU Stadium on September 1, 2029
  • The only meeting between these two programs was in 1987, a 30-27 Eastern Michigan win in the California Bowl
  • SJSU is 0-1 All-Time against the Eastern Michigan Eagles

Howard Bison (MEAC)

  • SJSU will play Howard at CEFCU Stadium on September 2, 2028
  • The famous Howard “Showtime” Marching Band will be attending
  • This will be the first ever meeting between these two programs.
