The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (10-20, 8-13 Horizon) defeat the IUPUI Jaguars (3-24, 1-15 Horizon), 66-54, inside the Indiana Farmers Coliseum tonight.
Milwaukee took a 28-25 lead into intermission, but didn’t look good. The Panthers played much better in the final 20 minutes to get some separation and ultimately win by 12.
DeAndre Gholston scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 from the field, had eight rebounds and two assists, but did have four turnovers.
Jasin Sinani was the other Panther in double-figures, as he finished with 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, with a rebound and an assist.
UWM made 26-of-46 (56.5%) from the field, 7-for-15 (46.7%) from 3-point range and 7-of-8 (87.5%) at the free throw line. The Panthers had 15 assists, but were terrible taking control of the ball and finished with 17 turnovers.
UWM needed this win to have a chance to have a home game in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament next week. And they need to win Saturday as well.
The Panthers will remain on the road and play the Illinois-Chicago Flames (11-15, 7-10 Horizon) inside the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, February 26th in the regular season finale for both teams. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN+.
