Big Ten Conference Discussing Potential Elimination of Divisions in Football

The Big Ten Conference currently has an East and West division and plays a nine-game conference schedule that includes three cross-divisional games for each school.

The Big Ten administrators have discussed dropping the conference schedule to eight games beginning in 2023 so it can create matchups with the ACC and Pac-12 conferences.

There have also been discussions about the Big Ten eliminating the divisions with schools playing three opponents annually (likely rivalry games) and cycling through the other 10 teams either either every other year or two years on, two years off.

Personally, I would like the conference to get rid of the two divisions, maintain the rivalry games and have the teams cycle through the non-rivalry game teams every year.

The Big Ten also released a revised 2022 schedule earlier this month.
