No. 18 Wisconsin Badgers Lose To No. 12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The No. 18 Wisconsin Badgers (1-2) lose to the No. 12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-0) in the Shamrock Series, 41-13, in a game that was much much closer than the score shows at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Wisconsin is 1-2 for the first time in 20 years.

Graham Mertz had another brutal game against a ranked team. Mertz finished 18-of-41 for 240 yards and one touchdown. But he threw four interceptions, two of which were ran back for touchdowns, and also fumbled in UW territory.

He just doesn’t have it. He just doesn’t. And it sucks. He has not lived up to the hype. Graham Mertz ain’t it.

Did he take his “COVID year” and opt out while physically still “playing”?

In the Penn State and Notre Dame games, Mertz has a combined eight turnovers — six interceptions and two lost fumbles.

As I’ve said on a couple different blogs, there are absolutely no excuses for Mertz this year.

I thought the defense played really well. The unit gave up 20 points and the offense (cough, Graham Mertz) put them in some tough situations.

The Wisconsin defense is legit and deserves a lot more credit than it gets. The unit keeps UW in games.

I’m not happy I spent money on tickets, tolls (which Illinois should be paying me to enter that state), parking and concessions.

Soldier Field is kind of a dump, just like everything else in Illinois.

I feel you, my guy:

UW will look to bounce back when they host the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines (3-0) next Saturday, October 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM (Central Time) and will be nationally televised on Fox.
