The Wisconsin Badgers football program had an open practice this morning, open to the public. UW says they had 4,433 requests for digital tickets.
It was good to be back inside Camp Randall Stadium with the band and fans inside.
UW opens the season ranked No. 15 in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
Wide Receiver Danny Davis (head) remained out. Right Tackle Tyler Beach (leg) wasn’t in uniform and spent most of the practice coaching up the young tackles.
Freshman Cornerback Al Ashford had arm surgery and will miss the 2021 season.
It was a strong day for the defense.
The lone touchdown for the offense came in the Red Zone portion of practice. Graham Mertz rolled to the right and found Chimere Dike for a 5-yard TD.
The play of the day for the defense came from Preston Zachman. The safety tipped a pass to himself and held on for the interception as he fell to the ground.
