ESPN College Football Power Index

The ESPN College Football Power Index (FPI) gave out its projected win totals, percentage to win the respective conferences, percentage to make the four-team playoff, and percentage to win the National Championship. The win totals are based on the 12-game regular season and Conference Championship games for a total of potentially 13 games for teams.

My Wisconsin Badgers are ranked 4th in the FPI, projected win total of 10.8, a 6.7 percent chance to win out (13-0), 85.9 percent to win the Big Ten West, a 33.1 percent chance to win the Big Ten Conference, a 33.5 percent chance to make the playoffs and a 5.5 percent chance to win the National Championship.

Defending National Champion, LSU, has a projected win total of 9.6 wins and a 4.2 percent chance to repeat as champions.

Jim Harbaugh’s hot seat might be scorching hot if the projected FPI win total turns out to be true for the Wolverines as Michigan is projected to win 7.4 games in 2020.

The Washington Huskies are projected to win 7.5 games under first year head coach Jimmy Lake.

The San Jose State Spartans are projected to win 5.3 games with a 7.0 percent chance to win the Mountain West West Division and a 1.1 percent chance to win the Mountain West Conference. What comes to mind is the quote “so you’re telling me there’s a chance?!” from the movie Dumb & Dumber.

My Uncle’s Alma Mater, the Connecticut Huskies, who are now a Division-1A Independent in Football, are projected to win 3.7 games. If that turns out to be the case for UConn, then Randy Edsall might be shown the door in Storrs.
