Santa Clara Hoops loses two to Transfer Portal

Since the season ended three weeks ago for the Santa Clara Broncos, two key members have decided to transfer. Tahj Eaddy decided to be a grad transfer and landed at Southern California, while Trey Wertz announced a couple days ago that he had entered the transfer portal. Several power five schools are interested in Wertz, who’s from Charlotte.

I used to be a big fan of SCU, but once they fired Dick Davey I was anti-SCU. The fact that it was handled in a third-rate fashion didn’t help the cause.

I have to say, it was enjoyable to see a decade of a dumpster fire led by Kerry Keating.

Now that Keating is gone, I’m “OK” aka neutral with SCU.

I think Herb Sendek is a good coach, the guy can coach. So this was a big blow to the program losing Wertz and Eaddy.

I don’t know anything about SCU’s incoming recruiting class, but SCU made big strides from year one to year four under Sendek, but were a year or two away from realistically “competing” for the WCC title.

Will there still be the “In Herb We Trust” sign in the Leavey Center on game days? Will the SCU slogan still be “Stampede Ahead”?
