The UW-Milwaukee Panthers fell behind early and were never able to get back into the game, losing 70-53 to Cleveland State at the Wolstein Center.
UWM shot 25.4% from the field and 19% from beyond the arc, compared to Cleveland State’s 51.1% shooting from the field and 62.5% from 3-point range.
Darius Roy was the only Panther in double digits scoring with 11 points. Te’Jon Lucas and Josh Thomas added 9 with Courtney Brown Jr. chipping in six points.
UWM has the talent to be a NIT team, but if they’re not hitting three’s then they virtually have no chance to win any game. Pat Baldwin needs to figure out an offense that will work when shots from beyond aren’t falling.
UWM returns home next week when they host a very good Wright State team on Friday night at 7:00 pm (CT). After that, the Panthers host another tough team in Northern Kentucky on Sunday (February 2) afternoon at 1:00 pm (CT).
